The Victorian High Country
Probably the most famous of all High Country huts, Craig's Hut was first built for the ‘Man from Snowy River’ movie back in 1981 and is one of the most iconic and well-known symbols of the Victorian High Country.
After the 2006 bushfires which destroyed not only Craig’s Hut, but many of the High Country huts, it was lovingly restored in 2008.
Perched on top of Mt Stirling, it provides some amazing vistas of the High Country; as it was built for the movies, its location very exposed to the elements and traditional huts are built in a more protected outlook, but its exposed location is what makes it so visually stunning.
