Perry Sand Hills

Wentworth NSW

Just 10kms from Wentworth, The Perry Sand hills are an amazing site especially at sunrise and sunset. Throughout the day, the colours of the dunes change and wonderful shadows and patterns form as the sun rises of sets.

Attraction Partner - Wentworth River Cruises

The best way to explore the Murray and Lower Darling River in the comfort of a modern river cruise and function vessel!

The boat is fully fitted out to cater for a variety of function styles to experience our two icon rivers.

The moving dunes are steeped in Aboriginal history and culture and seem incongruous in the flat surrounding area. The picnic area is a perfect place for a lunch before or after exploring the sand hills.

The beauty of the sand hills is obvious but it has not always been aesthetically appreciated; during the Second World War, the site was used for bombing practice. But today, its beauty is appreciated by visitors and camera crews alike as it has been the set for many advertisements and films including 'The Man From Snowy River', Burke and Wills, and The Flying Doctors.

Accommodation Partner - Willow Bend Caravan Park

willow bend caravan park

A true waterfront Caravan Park and the only caravan park within the Wentworth & Mildura areas where you can fish right from your own powered site or take a short walk to all town services.

Caravan and Camping at Willow Bend is quite unique we are situated right where the rivers meet walking distance to town and at the same time we are only a short walk to the junction of Australia's TWO greatest rivers.

Perry Sandhills cover 10 hectares and are part of the Thegoa Lagoon floodplain. Included by many as a top photographic destination, the sandhills reveal their splendour more so at sunrise and sunset; which also means there tends to be less people traipsing over the dunes.

Destination Partner - Wentworth

For thousands of years local Aboriginal people have been meeting for corroborees and ceremony. Wentworth was one of Australia’s busiest ports during the paddlesteamer era of the late 1800s and the great rivers of the Murray and Darling join as one here.

Wentworth is considered the gateway to Outback NSW, and is situated on the junction of the Murray and Darling Rivers in southwestern New South Wales.
